The 21st Annual Meeting of the Infantile Seizure Society

Opening of the new pre-registration site for the virtual 21st annual meeting of the Infantile Seizure Society (May 19, 2020, Updated)

Dear Friends,

We are preparing for the 21st Annual Meeting of the Infantile Seizure Society (ISS), titled the "International Symposium on Pathophysiology of Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy (ISDEE2020)," that is held totally online. We are pleased to announce opening of the new pre-registration site for the virtual meeting:
https://isdee2020.org/registration.html

Please note that the registration fee for the virtual meeting is much lower than that for the initial plan of real meeting. Only online pre-registration is accepted to join the virtual meeting, and the registration should be completed by Sunday, June 14th, 23:59 JST. We hope you would understand that such measures are necessary for security reasons.

We would like to indicate progress of our preparation at the Website:
https://isdee2020.org/
The organization of Web-based meeting is technically demanding and a big challenge for us. I would like to appreciate your help.

Best regards,
Katsuhiro Kobayashi, M.D.

The 21st annual meeting of the Infantile Seizure Society to be totally online
(Apr 13, 2020, Updated)

Dear Friends,

The COVID-19 pandemic is a real threat to all of us. In Japan, the Prime Minister has declared a state of emergency.

Regarding the 21st annual meeting of the ISS, titled the "International Symposium on Pathophysiology of Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy (ISDEE2020)," to be held in Okayama, Japan, we have concluded that it should be totally online instead of a meeting assembly of participants, because any assembly bears risk of the health of participants even two months from now. We cannot postpone the meeting due to several reasons including availability of venues. I would like to ask for your kind understanding on this difficult decision.

We would like to announce our detailed plan of the online conference organization before long at the web site: https://isdee2020.org/index.html.

We plan to use Zoom, which seems to be a popular tool available for us for teleconferencing. There are reports of security issues with Zoom.
The Zoom company, however, claims they are working on improving security by fixing the security holes. Security is an endless problem in online communication, and we will continuously take measures to minimize such risk. Cisco Webex is another tool option to use in place of Zoom.

It is a great pity that we would not be able to see each other in person, but the teleconference is better than nothing. The organization of Web-based meeting is technically demanding and a big challenge for us. I would like to appreciate your help.

Best regards,
Katsuhiro Kobayashi, M.D.
